If you have received a player profile please try and get it back to me so I can type it up. I realize it is a lot of work. But I need them to expand the website (there are twenty-five of them out there and I have four that were given to me.) The profiles have an added feature in that they'll help me with the history part.
Basketball Alumni we're still looking for donations.
[Word of note, we cannot take a donation from an alumnus if your son is presently seeking to make the team! Or if he does make it we cannot accept a donation either.] Please continue to spread the word about the Association and gather more email addresses.
A number of us bball alumni have joined Facebook. Mark Gallison set this up for us from his home in California. It is fun as hell! The first discussion topic is "Favorite Coach James Story." If you're on Facebook look up Billerica High Basketball Group. You won't be disappointed.
I have talked to a few coaches this past fall and we're negotiating for next year and we're going to get the Jim Todd Holiday Tournament up and running. It would be a rotating holiday tournament with other towns/schools. Doug Hastings has written an article about Jim Todd and his current NBA team, the Atlanta Hawks.

Jim Todd is still representing the alma mater at the game's highest level -- well done Jim! Coach James was always proud of you. Jim was also this year's commencement speaker for BMHS Class of 2011 at the Tsongas Arena. Jim's speech touched upon the foundation of all Billericans: hard work, peseverance, and remembering where you came from..
This past season 2010-11 was awfully fun... The Indians finished 11 and 11 and were just 3 points shy of a Co-MVC Championship. We also got into the MIAA State Tourney and beat Boston Latin in a home opener. This game, we believe, was the first time the Indians have won a state tourney game since 1985. We lost the second game to eventual Division 1 State Champion, St. John's Danvers. We played them without one of our key starters and two players unknowingly played the game with broken hands... You can't ask more as a coach, and as always they were "Billerica tough."
We are in the Woburn summer league again. St John's is there too along with a lot of really good teams. We ask the returning varsity and junior varsity players to play. HOWEVER, 10 SUMMER LEAGUE games do not make basketball players. I'd suggest all players go to the George Gracie Courts at the Lampson Field and play. And, in addition to playing, make HUNDREDS of made shots per day, lift weights, and get into shape. You don't want "just to make the team", you want to make and contribute to a championship team. Remember the pyramid. Woburn league is good because we get away from MVC teams for the most part. Most high school coaches want to avoid league teams and play against different competition during the summer. We also plan on playing in the fall league as well.
The Seniors this year were a great bunch of kids. It was an honor to have been their coach. They will be attending some of the following colleges: Framingham State, Merrimack, Bryant, Westfield State, and Endicott College. They will be playing basketball, baseball, and football. I wish you all the best, school first, sports next, and fun last...
BMHS Alumnus Mark Mastrullo reached the 1,000 point milestone at Curry College. Mark hit an NBA 3 to get to the milestone. Mark, we're all proud of you! Mark joins Alums Derek Dixon, Bentley College 1987 and Andy Dagle Suffolk University 1983 as BMHS grads who reached the 1,000 point milestone.
EMAIL ME SCANNED IN PHOTOS at the address listed on the site !!!!
Players from the 60s and 90s come on and join in.
Please get the player profiles to me when you can. "Knowledge of the past implies hope for the future." from the late, great Dr. Stephen Ambrose. Help us build up our proud tradition. Thanks.
Howe/BMHS Hall of Fame Coach George Gracie had the honor of having the outdoor basketball courts at the Lampson Field named after him. The George Gracie Outdoor Basketball Courts are official. Congratulations Coach Gracie!!
Players and candidates to play, shoot thousands of MADE shots in addition to playing this fall. There is a difference between playing basketball and being a BASKETBALL PLAYER.
What have you done to make the team better?
Yours in Basketball,
Mike
